Hi Everyone! My name is Maya-Rose Grandy and I'm a 20-year old writer born and raised in the south Bay Area. I long to move to San Francisco one day as a professional writer. In the mean time however, I spend my days curled up in my bed writing about my mistakes, life lessons, and all the experiences that make me who I am. I believe these stories have the ability to help others feel less alone in what they're experiencing while building a community of like minds.
This blog focuses on my thoughts and opinions on life but don't be afraid to let the writing speak for itself. I enjoy providing relatability, advice, or overall food for thought for my readers. It's my personal belief that life is what you make it, so treat the contents of my blogs as so. Take what you need, judge what you'd like, and learn what you don't know! I've been obsessed with film and television for as long as I can remember. At 15, convinced I was destined for the big screen, I became my own acting coach, manager, and agent—all before landing my first role in a local student film. It didn't take long to realize I wasn't Hollywood's next great actor, but what never changed was my love of storytelling. These days, I've happily traded audition rooms for blank pages, pouring my passion into screenwriting.

Growing up in the late 2000s and 2010's, my childhood has been filled with images of celebrities and influencers in the age of social media. Eventually, I found myself a young kid obsessed with making Youtube videos and TikToks. During the Covid-19 lockdown, I amassed 50k+ followers on my Tiktok (@truecaliforniagirl) creating gaming videos! Though a very different niche from what I create now, I continue to create videos on my Tiktok and Youtube (@mayargrandy). If that's where you've come from, hi! If not, check them out!
The 'True California Girl'
As notoriously mentioned on both my Instagram bio and TikTok handle I often denote myself as the 'True California Girl'. I identify with my home state as a girl of many different climates. From the snow in South Lake Tahoe, the fog of San Francisco, the sun of Los Angeles, and the deep dryness of Death Valley, I'm incredibly multifaceted. California & I are as close as close can be.
